ABOUT BROCKTON

Brockton, located in Bruce County, was incorporated in 1999, when the townships of Brant and Greenock and the town of Walkerton amalgamated. What is now known as Brockton includes, Bradley; Cargill; Chepstow; Dunkeld; Eden Grove; Glammis; Little Egypt; Malcolm; Maple Hill; Narva; Marle Lake; Lake Rosalind; Pearl Lake; Pinkerton; Portal; Riversdale & Solway.
Although elegant historical buildings line the streets and Walkerton’s downtown (a great shopping destination) can be best described as Victorian, Brockton is also home to one of the largest natural wetlands in Southern Ontario, Greenock Swamp, along the banks of the Saugeen River.
Brockton also houses both, the Saugeen and Teeswater Rivers, which are surrounded by countless scenic spots and an abundance of multi-use trails. In addition, numerous feeder streams and spring fed lakes (full of brown trout, bass & pike) are helping Brockton to become one of the greatest fishing destinations in the world.
An outdoor wonderland, Brockton has a number of activities to offer including fly-fishing; canoeing; kayaking; swimming; cycling; hiking; camping; hunting; skiing; snowmobiling and ATVing. With countless parks; ball diamonds; soccer fields; swimming pools; gardens; walking paths; picnic shelters; pavilions and two golf courses, there is always something to do.
Known for Agriculture and farming, Brockton offers the best of Bruce County beef, maple syrup, dairy, fresh local fruits and vegetables.
Walkerton Clean Water Centre safeguards water for people all over Ontario and offers extensive education & training in the field.
Walkerton is home to two high schools as well as the Saugeen Municipal Airport.
Fun Fact: Walkerton was placed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having a church on each corner of their jail & courthouse complex.
